About

A golf guide for the back nine of life

Fairway & Fescue is an independent guide to golf gear for players whose bodies have changed — a slower swing, hands that ache, a back that can’t carry eighteen. We take you seriously, name the constraint plainly, and read the specs so you don’t have to.

Why this site exists

There is no shortage of “best golf gear for seniors” lists online. The trouble is that almost all of them are thin: a few hundred words, an anonymous byline, a page last updated two or three years ago, and not a single published specification anywhere on it. The people who genuinely test golf gear, meanwhile, write for a tour swing and never say the word “senior” — their advice assumes a clubhead speed you may no longer have.

Neither half serves the golfer who played well for decades and is now adjusting. That golfer doesn’t need to be sold “golden years” sympathy or a tour player’s launch monitor data. They need the gear sorted by the thing that actually changed — and the numbers that decide whether a club, ball or grip will help. That is the whole job of this site.

What we do, and what we don’t

We compile the published manufacturer specifications — shaft weight and flex, loft, grip core and diameter, ball compression, cart weight — and put them in comparison tables. We do the swing-speed and compression arithmetic. We cross-read owner manuals and cite third-party research, including medical guidance, by name. Then we rank, and we name a “skip this” pick in every roundup.

What we don’t do is pretend to a test lab we don’t have. We have not hit these clubs, worn these shoes on a course, or run a launch monitor. We say so, plainly, on every page — because a transparent method beats a hollow “we tested 40 drivers” claim, and because telling you the truth is the entire point. Here is exactly how a pick gets made.

Who writes it

Stephen V.— I’m an enthusiast who’s genuinely into this. I don’t have a lab and I haven’t hit these clubs. What I do is read the manuals, compile the published specs, and do the math — then write down what the numbers actually support. No lab coat.

How it’s funded

Fairway & Fescue is an affiliate publisher operated by Type 5 Marketing LLC. When you buy through one of our Amazon links we earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. No brand pays us for placement, no manufacturer sends us gear, and the commission never changes a ranking — which is why you’ll routinely find the cheaper product ranked above the dearer one here. Full affiliate disclosure, and our editorial policy, are both spelled out in plain English.
